Making Lemonade

When I was a kid, I had this Andre Agassi poster hanging up in my room that said REMEMBER: WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS – DON'T SUCK.
10:30 this morning, my internet connection went down again. My first instinct was to throw a little hissy fit and complain to god/fate/whatever about my shitty luck... But then, a little epiphany: What's that going to solve? Nothing.
I sent a text to my client from my cell saying I'd be out for a few hours, laced up my running shoes and went outside to enjoy a beautiful pre-storm winter morning. I ended up running to Central Park, doing a loop, and then running back home. It was just under nine miles all together. Having the time to finish that distance is a luxury I don't normally get midweek so I made sure to make the most of it today. I managed to keep the pace at a reasonably slow level (7:17/mile), attacked every hill with vigor (even the much hated Cat Hill), and finished the hour-plus run feeling strong and wanting more.
The slump is definitely over.
Internet was still down when I got back, but that gave me a chance to run to the grocery store, clear off my desk, do a hundred Perfect Pushups, call my bank and close my old business account, clean the bathroom, and even read a couple stories from the new book I started yesterday. I have to admit, I was actually a little bummed when my connection finally came back. My little "snow day" was done.
Unfortunately, I do have a shitload of work to do as always so I'm going to have to head down to the offices tomorrow because I keep getting disconnected every hour or so and it's making it tough to get anything accomplished. But, I suppose I'll just have to make the most of that too...
