Friday

Thank god it's Friday. I was having so much trouble sitting still and concentrating at work today. Although vacations are cool, they can be tough to get over. Going from the beautiful open air of the mountains to a noisy midtown desk is a tough transition to make.
I'm also happy that it's this particular Friday because that means that I get to wake up and run the Brooklyn Half Marathon tomorrow morning. My last half (the Bronx) left a bad taste in my mouth, and I've been pining for redemption ever since. Please, please running gods, let it come tomorrow.
I normally don't post goals before a race because it seems to create even more pressure. But, I'm gonna switch it up here and see what happens... My goal for tomorrow is 1:24:59, a 6:29/mile pace. Hopefully knowing that that's out there will help me out tomorrow around mile 7 when it really starts to hurt.
This is a very ambitious goal for a couple reasons: 1.) It's two-and-a-half minutes faster than my P.R. 2.) My legs feel like shit. I've been taking it super-duper-easy this week, but I am so tight still from the marathon. As soon as I wrap this up, I'm going to take a hot, long bath with the Epsom salts and then stretch out a bunch. Hopefully that helps.
Well, I should wrap this up and then try to get some rest (even though that's highly unlikely that I'll actually be able to fall asleep.) But, before I go, let me leave you all with my participation in Nikemom's Photo Friday. This photo is of me and my dog Oni, taken last weekend after the end of my run. Oni is ridiculously fast, the type of fast I can only dream of being.
