“I never know when to use apostrophes in its.”

“It’s actually pretty simple.”

“I know you put one in if you could say it is instead.”

“Yep. And if you can’t, then there’s no apostrophe.”

“Because it’s possessive?”

“You got it.”

“So, can you give an example?”

“The dog was barking because its collar was on fire.”

  1. LOL! I’m embarrassed to say, I just got to the bottom of that this very year. I’ve always put one there in its possessive form but booo, no gooda. In fact, I just had to edit “its” in the previous sentence because I can’t help but wanna put it there.
